My Story: A Journey of Love and Wonder
Welcome! I’m an author-illustrator dedicated to creating stories that celebrate neurodiversity, build empathy, and ensure no family feels isolated in their unique journey. Through the whimsical, make-believe world of Twizzle Town and its lovable resident creatures, the Floops, my books explore real-life, lived experiences with neurodivergence—from navigating big social events to embracing quieter ways of playing and connecting.
My path to children’s literature is deeply personal. As a mother of two, the inspiration for Twizzle Town grew directly from parenting my own wonderful daughter, whose autism diagnosis cast a beautiful, clarifying light on the everyday struggles and triumphs we experienced. I wanted to create a mirror for neurodivergent children and a window for parents, reframing these differences not as things to be fixed, but as deeply special parts of who they are.
My artistic background is rooted in years of traditional fine art, working extensively with oil paints, colored pencils, soft pastels, and mixed media. Today, I bring that tactile sensibility into the digital space, crafting vibrant, soft illustrations designed to look like intricately layered cut-out paper.
By day, I balance the structured world of numbers as a professional accountant, but my heart lives in the studio, breathing life into the gentle, fuzzy hearts of Twizzle Town. I am passionate about creating books that spark meaningful conversations at bedtime and help every child feel seen, understood, and valued exactly as they are.
